Rovescala
Home page
This little village existed already in the Roman Ages,
in the 943 it belonged to the Bishops of Pavia but
Rovescala Counts managed it. In the 1164 it belonged
to the town of Pavia, true allied of Federico Barbarossa.
For hundred years it was longed-for Pavesi against
Piacentini- Milanesi and several times its castle and
the village has been kept and destroyed (Piacentini's
domination in the 1290).
Galeazzo II Visconti in the 1361 rebuilt it, and in the
1470 we find another Visconti (Gaspare) as owner of
this area. In the first years of the '500 until the second
part of the XVIII century it belonged to Pamela's Count.
Of Medieval period, the Tower into the castle rebuilt
several times in the periods after (private home) is the
only witness we have now. Near the ruins of the outside
main wall there is a little house probably of the XIV - XV
century. The Parish Church in the " down" part of the
village has been built in the '700. In its area you produce
also an excellent red wine, called "Bonarda", from the
vineyard Croatina, autochthonous specie of Oltrepò
Pavese. In addition to the excellent wines, it is the centre
of the tasty dressed pork products.
