The village existed already in the Roman Ages, it
belonged to Sannazzaro, and, in the period after to
Federico Barbarossa who gave the feud to the Town
of Pavia. In the 1290 it belonged to Beccaria family.
Gian Galeazzo Visconti took it in the 1359 after
having kept Pavia. In the 1452, Sannazzaro, after
a long battle, took it again. In the XVIII century we
find as owner of the village the rich family of
Cazzaniga and Arnaboldi. Today of the ancient
castle several times destroyed during the centuries,
remain only the original parts of the main outside
walls and the embattled tower, and this one repaired
too during the '800. The Parish Church, dedicated to
San Bernardo Abate, Patron of the village, was built
in the 1437 for the will of Alessandro Visconti
Scaramuzza.
In this area you can find particular D.O.C. wines,
like "Buttafuoco" and "Sangue di Giuda".
