Several documents attest this village dated about in
the Gallic- Roman found in this area, for example the
Christian square shape Battistero dated the first 
years of 300 d. C.
The village has been overcome several times by Po 
and Sesia River and sometimes has been destroyed.
Also in the 1155 has been destroyed by Federico 
Barbarossa army. For this reason the castle has been
rebuilt in the XII century, that in the two century after
has been built addotionnl part like walls and angolar
towers.
In the 1404 it has been overcome by the Visconti army
comanded by Facino Cane, in the '67 it went to Isimbardi,
noble family from Milano, and since there until the XVIII 
century it has been changed several times sometimes 
also rebuilt, that have changed the original looking.
Now you have to see the Great Tower, the garden and 
its barock fountain, and the renaissential dining room).
Between the events that take place in Pieve del Cairo 
one is religious and it is on June. It is called Giubileo  
Perpetuo ( under the will Pf Pope Leone X in 1516), in 
order to thank people to let him free from the french army.
An other event is the " Palio de li Sponsali " which takes
place on the 26th May in Corte Granda Square , where 
the spanish nobles challenged Isimbardi, into a 
renaissance football match i,a donkey run and archery match.
The festival stops at 20:30 o' clock with a wedding refresh
between the two family.
The day after you can see a historic parade  in order to
remember the weeding between Margherita  d' Austria 
with jugglers and markets, everybody dressed in 
traditional clothes.
