Home page
It is especially an ancient agricoltural village, it has been
built during the Gallo-Roman Age. You can see that
seeing lots of the graves of that period, found at the
beginning of the 1900s, of the left side of the Agogna
river, in the place called Mortizza.
The first documentation is about on July 1164, and belongs
to Conti Palatini of Lomello, member of Olevano that lived
in the castle built under their will and destroyed by
Barbarossa. It has been rebuilt and catch by Facino Cane
in the 1404.
In the 1469 under the will of Federico III° it has been linked
to Attendolo - Bolognini.
Since 1551 to 1557 it belonged to Beccaria. In that period
the french army destroyed it; so it has been rebuilt for the
second time, but in the 1745,it was destroyed by the
Austrian army again.
Today we can see really little of that castle, even after
the rebuilding in the 1758, under the control of the
architect Lorenzo Cassani the main esponent of the
Barock in Pavia. S. Salvatore church and San Michele
are remembered since the 1259 and they have been
built by Olevano who together with their descendents,
Sir. Marchese Baldassarre from Olevano in 1753 built
a new parish church in renaissence style completed
with the old bell tower in the 1749.
In Olevano in the 1994 has been inaugurated the
museum of village art and traditions in order to let the
people know the ancient Lomellina's culture.
On the 15 August (ferragosto) together with the fest of
San Rocco there is " La sagra del Salam dla duia "
tipical pork salami conserved in fat, in a special
big earthenware box called "le olle".
San Michele coulselin festival, the fourth Sunday of
October with folkloristic and cultural venets linked to the
descovering of the country traditions importance.
