The first humans settled near the river Terdoppio
were about the recent "mesolitico", in Celtic Age it
became a populated village, and are about of the
III century a.C., the necropolis of Dosso della Guardia
and della Belcreda. During the romanic Age it was
an important and logistic centre for the garrisons
menaged to opposite Annibale. Between the X and
XIII century it growned as an important centre for the
developement of the Christianity in Pianura Padana.
The ruins of its castle are about of the XIII and XIV,
when Visconti took it away from Pavia, but probably
the village was arleady fortified in the X century. The
noble family Litta changed a part of a castle in private
home, and today it is the centre of the Archeologic
Museum of Lomellina. Between its important churches
the oldest is the one dedicated to S. Eusebio, built
between the V and the VI century on the rest of a
romanic temple dedicated to Minerva.
