The origin of the ancient village Borgo di
Monterosso first " pearl " of Cinque Terre,
is in the Longobardi Age, even if historic
study are not always the same. It was
Obertenghis and De Passanos feud.
Since 1726 it belonged To the Republic
of Genova which amplified its fortress in
order to contrast the enemy like Saraceni,
but especially in order to contrast the invasion
of Pisani. You can see ruins of the ancient
walls and circle tower between the trees on
the highest part of Monterosso, next to the
Capuchin convent, one of the most panoramic
point easy to visit with a short promenade,
where you can admire the whole " Poets " gulf,
that beginning from Punta Mesco, stops with
the isle of Tino, and like diamond exactly
mounted into the green sides in front of the
blue sea you can see Vernazza, Manarola e
Riomaggiore. Monterosso is the only place of
the Sea Park of Cinque Terre that maintains
